2-D Material that Purifies Water

This 2-D sheet of graphitic carbon nitrate has the ability to produce enough daily drinking water for four people in one hour. “Our motive was to develop an efficient way to use sunlight to produce water for undeveloped or remote regions without a central supply of clean water,” says
Materials scientist Guoxiu Wang of the University of Technology Sydney. The researcher’s next goal is to scale up this design for commercial use.
