New technology forces like the Amazon Alexa and Google Home are diving into the health care industry. As someone who has been wanting to get the Alexa to get involved in healthcare, I am excited for what is to come.

To start, HIPAA has been a huge force in stopping the Amazon Alexa from allowing creators and other healthcare business people from connecting patient information to a voice application device. Patients have now been allowed to use the Alexa and Google Home to access records, and remind them of appointments.

There have been apps produced that remind people to take certain medications, but none of those have needed HIPAA compliance, because some are sponsored as “Remind Me” apps.
I think this will take the healthcare and tech industry into a whole new level, and hope the rumors of Alexa’s listening to everything you do aren’t 100% true.
