It’s a well-known fact that time is irreplaceable! Many a times I have found myself saying that “I have so much to do but so little time ” or ” I have enough time I will work on it later!”
There are times where we find ourselves and colleagues working overtime which eventually leads to contacting clients and pushing back the deadlines. It signal’s that it’s time to re-examine how we work, and we are reaching the burnout territory resulting in poor job performance and suffering from mental fatigue. When I researched online, I found a survey from McKinsey. They asked 1500 executives globally how they spent their time at work out of them only 9% of responded saying they were satisfied with current time allocation.
I feel what leads to stress is procrastination (which I do often!) and this shifts the focus on getting the job done rather than doing it productively. Well, I don’t see stress as culprit because that’s what helps us on completing the reports , there could be various sources like the project environment itself ( could be many reports, meetings) lack of resources, unrealistic timelines. Our attitude can lead to stress reduction but what I believe is there isn’t one single technique that would help lessen the stress but one could try various techniques and determine what suits him/her the best, but the key thing here is commitment to practice them.
To sum up I would like to say that we should create a strict schedule, prioritize the work, use visualization methods like gantt chart and not getting overwhelmed by the entire workload and it would eventually help us to reduce stress.

Your post literally describes this semester for me. It’s like I don’t even know how to manage my time anymore which leads to me being stressed. This was a really good post. It opened my eyes a little bit allowing me to realize how my undergraduate habits cannot work in grad school. Procrastinating is not even an option in the grad program given the level of difficulty our projects are, but yet I still do it at times. I definitely agree that can lead to huge amount of stress so I need to find that balance with my school work and spending time with my friends. Oh wait, I forgot I have no friends. So nevermind. I’m good!
