So some airports have begun using facial recognition as a substitute for passports for international travelers, but there was no time period for the public to learn about and judge this change. Many are questioning how legal it is, as it is a big privacy issue, due to the passengers’ faces being photographed, transferred, and saved for a time. This could potentially make it easier to get through the gate and to the place because your very appearance would be your pass.

Personally, I don’t think I’d mind facial recognition at some point in the future of air travel, but the fact that there was no period of time given for the public to form opinions and concerns makes me nervous. I’d rather know if my face is being tracked and go through the airport knowing than find out later after a big hack steals that info.
