Obviously Project Management involves creating a lot of charts for planning. In recent years multiple programs have been released to make creating these charts easier and nicer looking. The one I want to focus on is the one we used for our projects for this class. Draw.io. It is a fantastic tool to create Pert and Gantt charts. While there may be better programs, this one is free and has a very clean, simple UI. I was never confused how to do anything in it. It links up to the Google Drive very cleanly in a way that when you open a file in the Drive it runs Draw.io automatically. Creating our charts never took more than an hour. It allows for zoom functionality so you can see as much or as little of the chart that you want without losing image quality. Being a web app that you can save the files on Google Drive, you can get view and edit links for the charts depending on who you want to share it with. For the Gantt charts, I found a simple Google sheet works great. It allows multiple people to edit the sheet. It is simple to use since everyone already knows how to edit a spreadsheet. Sometimes the bells and whistles of other programs have aren’t necessary and keeping it simple is the best way of planning.
